Viterbo – Replaces his friend at the driving license test, reported by the police.
“On the morning of May 13 – the police said in a note – following investigative information activities, state police personnel from the general prevention and public rescue office of the Viterbo police headquarters intervened at the Viterbo civil motor vehicle office.
The operators surprised a twenty-five-year-old originally from Mali intent on taking the theoretical exam to obtain a driving license (category B) to replace an Ivorian citizen.
Subsequent investigative developments made it possible to ascertain that the young foreigner had already been responsible in the past in similar situations, for which he had been referred to the judicial authorities by the Viterbo traffic police.
During the operation, useful material was seized for the continuation of the investigations to ascertain the possible use of the same modus operandi for the issuing of other licenses. The perpetrator of the crime was reported in a state of freedom for fraud and impersonation.”
Presumption of innocence
In the Italian criminal system the presumption of innocence applies until the final sentence. Presumption of innocence which is based on article 27 of the Italian constitution according to which a person “is not considered guilty until finally convicted”.
