VITTORIA (RAGUSA) – Upon proposal of the Police Commissioner of the Province of Ragusa, Vincenzo Trombadorethe Court of Catania applied a measure of patrimonial prevention against a person of foreign origins resident in Vittoria.
The policemen of the Ragusa Police Headquarters thus executed a decree for the seizure of assets for a total value of approximately 400,00.00 euros.
The recipient of the prevention measure is a 39-year-old man who arrived in Italy in the early 2000s who immediately demonstrated a strong and prone attitude to crime with the commission of numerous crimes of serious social alarm which earned him convictions for receiving stolen goods, theft, illegal carrying of weapons, gangmastering and violation of the regulations regarding safety in the workplace .
The examination of his illegal conduct had already determined the Ragusa Police Commissioner to request the application of the personal prevention measure of the Special Public Security Surveillance.
The Court of Catania, in 2022, deeming the elements of social dangerousness to exist, accepted the proposal and therefore the person was already subject to the limitations on personal freedom from that date.
Recently the Police Commissioner of RagusaProvincial Public Security Authority, ordered that the Anti-Crime Police Division proceed with asset investigations on the account of the special suspect.
After in-depth research and assessments, a significant disproportion between the declared income and the assets directly or indirectly attributable to it was highlighted, such as to make it considered to be of unjustified origin and therefore the result of illicit activities.
The activity of the State Police and the Prevention Measures Section of the Court of Catania was also characterized by the need to intervene quickly, in order to prevent the proposed party from being able to confiscate sums of money, as compensation for the expropriation of assets for public utility by Anas.
The subject of the seizure for the purposes of subsequent confiscation was in fact a real estate complex consisting of a villa with an adjoining swimming pool, recently built, which falls in an area affected by the works of the “variant to the SS 115 state road”
The timely intervention thus made it possible to protect public finances as ANAS has already paid part of the value of the property to the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti. These sums had not yet become available to the proposed party as the latter had made a request for further compensation for which proceedings are underway.
