The municipal logistics machine is in full operation, called upon to manage traffic, safety and public order on the occasion of two very popular events such as the Historical Parade, which annually commemorates the historic battle of 25 May 1734, and the second day of Bitonto Cortili Aperti, scheduled Sunday 19 May.

The local Police Command has developed a detailed plan to regulate circulation and parking throughout the city, as well as to guarantee the peaceful and safe conduct of the two events and the management of emergency response,

With specific reference to traffic, the collaboration of the residents, called upon, will be fundamental leave the car in the garage, so as not to unnecessarily clog up vehicular trafficencouraging access to the city for those who come to Bitonto to follow the two events, which traditionally record a large number of visitors from nearby towns.

A prohibition on driving and parking with removal for all vehicles will be in force from 2pm to 10pm on all streets involved in the parade route: Vico Storto San Pietro Nuovo, Piazza Sylos Sersale, Arco Galliani, Via Sedile, Via XX Settembre, Via Matteotti (stretch between Piazza XX Settembre and Piazza Moro), Piazza Moro, Via della Repubblica Italiana, Piazza XXVI Maggio, Via Dante, Viale Giovanni XXIII (the stretch between Via Dante and Largo Villa), Largo Porta Baresana, Via Pasculli, Piazza Marconi and Via Logroscino. The ban also concerns roads that lead laterally to the aforementioned streets (Police Service Ordinance no. 259 of 05/16/2024).

Changes are expected for public transport lines: the urban bus terminus that connects the city center with the two hamlets of Palombaio and Mariotto it will be moved to Via Berardi.

The list of parking areasfreely usable and easily reachable without touching the central areas of the city closed to vehicular traffic, includes the Park&Ride in Via Messeni, Mons. Marena Square, Via Lazzati And Via Berardi/Via D’Angiò.

The rest areas for emergency vehicles and law enforcement vehicles are located in Piazza XXVI Maggio and Piazza Marconi.

The detailed operational plan for the management of safety and rescue will be able to count on two operational centres: a fixed one in via Dossetti, where the Local Police Command can be contacted by calling the numbers 0803751014 and 0806458344, and a mobile one with a medicalized health unit which will have a reference point in Piazza Marconi. All health and civil protection volunteers will be equipped with radio equipment to be constantly in contact with the two operations centers.

Following the procession was also an ambulance and a fire-fighting vehicle supplied to the municipal Civil Protection ready to intervene in case of need.
