Carlo Borzaga, recognized for his vast experience as a researcher, teacher and social entrepreneur, has had an important role in the Italian and international public debate, in particular for his studies on cooperation and the Third Sector. The new edition of Trento Economics Festival which will start in a week, offers the opportunity to celebrate his extraordinary contributions to research, in particular on social enterprise, a relatively recent phenomenon that combines two apparently irreconcilable cultures: that of solidarity and that of enterprise. Why can social enterprise help transform society? This is the question that the speakers who will take part in the round table will try to answer, each from their own point of view.
With Giulia Galera, senior researcher at Euricse, with whom he wrote, among many, his latest book “The Revolution of Social Enterprise. For a renewed protagonism of civil society”, Prof. will discuss. Benedetto Gui of the Sophia University Institute, one of the first scholars to analyze social enterprise empirically with prof. Borzaga, prof. Lorenzo Sacconi of the University of Milan, prof.ssa Anna Grandori of the Bocconi University of Milan and prof.ssa Mary O’Shaughnessy from Cork University Business School. The latter, together with Borzaga and researchers from the international EMES network, brought the analysis of social enterprise to an international level, thus inaugurating a new line of research. The Rector of the University of Trento, Flavio Deflorian, will bring a special greeting at the opening.
