The Perugia Traffic Police intensifies road safety checks

The Perugia Traffic Police Section continues to work tirelessly to prevent careless driving behavior on the main roads in the region. The main objective is to educate motorists on correct and safe driving behavior, in order to reduce the number of victims of road accidents.

The officers, who serve 24-hour shifts, demonstrated remarkable commitment, managing to monitor a total of 315 vehicles and 364 people. During the checks, the agents of the Perugia Section and the Todi, Foligno, Città di Castello and Castiglione del Lago detachments detected and contested 648 infringements of the Highway Code. Among these, 23 concerned violations of the rules on the correct use of seat belts and the use of cell phones while driving.

The speed control services, carried out with the tools available, led to significant results, with 68 fines contested for exceeding the established speed limits. The checks carried out by the Perugia Traffic Police Section made it possible to identify a driver in a state of psychophysical alteration due to alcohol abuse. This driver has had his driving license revoked.

The checks on heavy vehicles, vehicles used for transporting goods and buses, both with national and foreign license plates, led to important results. These checks aim to monitor compliance with regulations that have a significant impact on road safety, such as regulations regulating loading, documentation of transported material and compliance with weight limits of goods. In this context, 104 infringements were detected and sanctioned by Traffic Police officers.

The control services will continue in the coming weeks, with the aim of ensuring greater safety on the roads of our region.
