LATINA – It’s increasingly blue the sea of Lazio and, specifically, of the province of Latina. Confirmation came from the awarding, for the 38th consecutive year, of the Blue Flags which, assigned at the Rome headquarters of the National Research Council by the Fee, the foundation for environmental educationsaw 236 Italian coastal locations stand out, ten more than last year’s 226. And, confirming the 2023 data, Lazio has once again distinguished itself thanks to 10 locations, of which 9 are coastal and one – Trevigliano Romano – which insists on Lake Bracciano. The 2024 blue flags during the next tourist season will fly at the beach establishments of Anzio, in the province of Rome, and eight at those of Gaeta, Sperlonga, Marina di Latina, Sabaudia, San Felice Circeo, Fondi, Terracina and Minturno.
Self the municipality of Formia still has to wait to boast this prestigious recognition, the compliments to the municipalities awarded the 2024 Blue Flag came from the councilor for Tourism, environment, sport, climate change, energy transition and Sustainability of the Lazio Region, Elena Palazzo. The confirmation of the 2024 Blue Flag for the councilor of the Lazio Region “is another good news for tourists and bathers, which adds to the excellent data from Arpa Lazio on the quality of our waters. Once again confirms Lazio as an ideal destination for sea lovers. With my department I will continue – concluded Councilor Palazzo – to promote our Region as a top-class tourist destination in Italy and in the world with the utmost commitment. It’s time to invest our best energies in a strategic asset for the regional economy.” That of regional councilor Palazzo was accompanied by other positive comments from other provincial, regional and national representatives, especially from the centre-right.
The Pontine coordinator of the Brothers of Italy, Senator Nicola Calandrini, he immediately focused on the reconfirmation of the Blue Flag for the Latina seafront, “an important result for the capital, which certifies the quality of the water and services offered on our magnificent coastline. It must be admitted, the situation is still far from being what the city deserves. However, applause must be given to the administration led by Mayor Celentano, who managed to bring home the result by rolling up its sleeves to make up for years of wicked policies towards our Navy. The foundations have been laid for a virtuous path, with a view to strategic, coordinated and long-term interventions, which finally replace those spot measures which in past years have not done the city any good. We started, thanks to an amendment I proposed to the last budget law, guaranteeing more time to spend the money made available for the completion of via Massaro and at the same time guaranteeing more funds thanks to the possibility of using management economies. The dialogue between the municipal administration, the Region and the Government is continuous and is leading to the implementation of a serious project which I am sure will lead to significant results in the near future. Finally we are thinking about a consiliatura horizon, the results of which – concluded the Fdi Senator – will have to be evaluated in the medium term but will be more solid and long-lasting”.
THEn the evening, the comment of the deputy and candidate of the League for the next European elections Giovanna Miele also arrived:”This achievement confirms the value and beauty of our coasts, making Lazio an ideal destination for tourists and sea lovers. Congratulations to all the municipalities and all the local administrators who have obtained this important recognition which rewards their daily commitment in the management and care of local beaches”.
L’Mr Miele also applauded “also those who manage the water cycle in Ato 4, recognizing their fundamental contribution to the quality of coastal waters and the health of the marine environment. Responsible management of water resources is an essential pillar to ensure the sustainability of our beaches and the protection of our natural heritage. However – continues the League candidate -, it is important to be aware of the challenges that tourism and in particular the seaside sector must face, in particular regarding the defense of seaside concessions from the Bolkestein directive. The protection of local activities and the safeguarding of coastal traditions must remain at the center of our priorities, especially at the level of European legislation”.
