In the letter, in fact, which had the appearance of a sort of request to verify the situation, there was, in fact, the report of a hitch which was found at the first real passage (after cutting the trees) preparatory to the felling of the old buildings. In short, the risk was more money and more time for the works.

ASBESTOS

The companyIndeed, reported to the municipal administration which following some checks in the boiler rooms and others always linked to the heat area, areas with asbestos have been found which is not concentrated in just one place, but which has been spotted patchily across multiple properties and multiple areas. What it means to find asbestos is easy to say: a clean-up authorized by the health company (Prevention Department) is needed, the costs explode because the clean-ups must be carried out with all the necessary measures and then the times take longer. In short, a problem that wasn’t needed. Also for this reason, further checks were carried out to understand how large the surfaces affected by the material could be.

THE REPORTING

At this point, the company employed which – it is worth remembering – must complete the entire work by the end of 2025 because these are the times imposed by the works financed with the Pnrr, has sent a report to the Municipality which it immediately moved. From what has been learned, the Rup in turn carried out checks with internal technicians and the evaluation, apparently, it would be less serious than it might have appeared at the beginning of the report. Meanwhile there would be no need to open the wallet again. The amount that has been set aside and which concerns the unforeseen events that may be faced during construction, should be more than sufficient to guarantee coverage. The time required to carry out the asbestos abatement before demolition should also not be excessively longalthough obviously authorizations and the green light from Asfo are needed and then it will be necessary to proceed as soon as possible.

MAYOR

Alessandro Ciriani, even if in the midst of the electoral campaign, certainly did not take the spotlight away from the most important works that are underway and after speaking with professionals, he seems to be more refreshed. In short, if there are no nasty surprises, even with some hiccups, the deadlines should be respected. «Let’s say – explained Mayor Ciriani – that in such old buildings it was also plausible that there could be asbestos. Fortunately, it should not be in huge quantities so the clean-up times will not affect the times needed to complete the works on the scheduled dates. The same goes for money. They are already included in the economic plan of the work. We can say that there should be no problems whatsoever, we will continue as per previous indications.”

DELAY

In reality, in any case it will be a delay in the timetable which, however, should be made up for without any problems also because the demolition of the buildings is faster even in the face of a clean-up which would have been much more complex in the case of a recovery of the theaters.
