Slow Food Day 2024 in Lombardy: the program

Saturday 18 May is celebrated the Slow Food Day, the day in which the territorial and regional entities belonging to the Slow Food network and the Slow Food Communities organize events throughout the Peninsula. An opportunity to raise awareness of the projects and activities that the Chiocciola association carries out at a local level and to create a moment of sharing that involves everyone towards a common goal.

I am more than 100 the initiatives taking place simultaneously throughout Italy, appointments that testify to the awareness that must be the basis of the choices we make every day: from the purchases we make, to the clothes we wear, to the ways we choose to move from one place to anotherto the visions we have of how to create a good, clean, fair and healthy relationship between women, men and nature.

Milan

On Saturday 18 May at 11am, during the Earth Market which takes place at the Fabbrica del Vapore Via Procaccini 4, there will be a food education workshop for children and a tasting with market products. There will be a plate of cow’s, goat’s and sheep’s cheeses accompanied with honey, wild herbs and vegetable compotes and Cascina Caremma will prepare the Slow Food Day dish.
To participate, a minimum contribution of 10 euros is required to raise funds to support Slow Food’s activities.

Gorgonzola (MI)

On the occasion of Slow Food Day and the launch of the national Community Gardens project, Slow Food Martesana invites you to the Slow Food garden in via Cascina Pagnana to experience a day working in the garden and learning about the world of bees. Following there will also be a tasting of local products.

The Slow Food Community Garden is a permanent open-air laboratory in which to cultivate social relationships, inclusion, participation and active citizenship, promoting environmental education and good, clean and fair food.

Germignana and Luino (VA)

Thanks to the patronage of the Municipality of Germignana (VA), on the occasion of Slow Food Day and in conjunction with the Road to Terra Madre event “Sweet waters of Lombardy”, on May 18th Slow Food Varese invites you to the fresh water-themed conference with intervention by an ichthyologist and university professor. Followed by a photographic exhibition themed on freshwater fish and a closing aperitif.

On May 19th another event dedicated to the theme of fish and freshwater with related environmental problems and discussions relating in particular to Lake Maggiore will be held at Palazzo Verbania in Luino. There will be conferences with interventions by scientists and ichthyologists from the CNR/RSA, chefs, restaurateurs’ association, and the presentation of the “Natural Hatchery” project, for the protection of the Royal Perch (in collaboration with other associations), with screening of underwater films, connected live with underwater webcam, photographic exhibition and closing aperitif.

On both days the local restaurateurs’ association will be involved in the creation of a menu based on lake fish.

Torre de Picenardi (CR)

Slow Food Cremonese invites you to celebrate Slow Food Day in the garden of the Al Brolo farm, conducted with agroecological methods. During the day there will be a visit to the vegetable garden, transplanting of seedlings and a social snack with local products. Appointment at 3.30pm.

Losine (BS)

Slow Food Vallecamonica aps offers a visit to the cellar and vineyards with an explanation of the winemaking and agronomic choices.
First there will be a welcome for the participants with aromatic waters and some appetizers while waiting for the whole group to arrive.
This will be followed by a tasting of two IGT Valcamonica Reds and two Classic Method Sparkling Wines (Brut and Extra Brut), accompanied by a tasting of local products (cheeses and cured meats, please report any allergies or particular dietary requirements).
For minors (4-18 years) fruit juices will be served together with typical products.

For the entire duration of the event, some members of the Board of Directors of the local Convivium will be present who will explain who Slow Food is and what it does, underlining the importance of knowing and respecting good, clean and fair food, they will distribute information material and will be available to register those who decide to support the Association.

on May 19th from 10am to 10pm Slow Food Oltrepo Pavese organizes Oliva con gusto! a festival of producers for a sustainable Oltrepò. There will be lunch with “I Tri Urluc” and an aperitif with music with “Stay Swing”. There are also taste workshops, guided tastings of wine, oil and rice and guided excursions.

Casteggio (PV)
