Elections in Perugia: Survey by Corriere dell’Umbria
A recent survey conducted by TechnoConsumer for Corriere dell’Umbria he outlined a very competitive municipal election scenario in Perugia, where the probability of resolving the race in the first round appears remote. The centre-right leader, Margherita Scoccia, seems to be able to reach a consensus percentage close to 45.3%, but a run-off remains a real possibility.
Ballot air: Scoccia ahead, Ferdinandi chasing
Margherita Scocciasupported by a coalition that includes Fare Perugia-Forza Italia, Fratelli d’Italia, Futuro youth, Lega Perugia, Perugia amica, Perugia civica, Progetto Perugia and UDC, is in the lead with a spread of consensus between the 40.3% and 45.3%. However, the centre-left candidate, Vittoria Ferdinandi, supported by the Green-Left Alliance, Anima Perugia, 5 Star Movement, Democratic Party, Pensa Perugia, Perugia for public health and Orchestra for Victory, follows closely with a percentage that varies between 37.8% and 42.8 %.
The other candidates in the running
Other candidates in the running include Davide Baioccosupported by Alternativa reformista/Italexit and Forza Perugia, with support ranging between 5.5% and 10.5%. Leonardo Caponi, representative of the Italian Communist Party, has a support base estimated between 2.5% and 7.5%. In the end, Massimo Monniwith the civic list Perugia deserves mayor for Monni, collects between 1.5% and 6.5% of the votes.
Undecided and blank ballots
The poll also found that 13.1% of voters are still undecided, while 2.5% said they will vote blank or blank. A further 0.0% did not want to respond.
Profile of the candidates
Leonardo Caponi, the oldest of the candidates at 74 years old, has a long political career that began in the early Seventies, with experience as a senator and regional secretary of the PRC. Margherita Scoccia, 45 years old, architect and outgoing councilor for urban planning, is the centre-right candidate. Davide Baiocco, 48 years old, former professional footballer and now entrepreneur, is supported by two civic lists. Massimo Monni, 64 years old, a healthcare professional and former municipal and regional councilor, leads a civic list. Finally, Vittoria Ferdinandi, 37 years old, psychologist and director of the Numero Zero multifunctional centre, represents the centre-left coalition.
Towards the elections
With this framework, the electoral campaign comes to life. The citizens of Perugia are asked to choose the next mayor from a range of candidates with varied experiences and proposals. The possibility of a runoff remains high, making each vote crucial to the city’s future.
