Development and Cohesion Funds, the Council of State agrees with the Campania Region: 45 days to close the agreement with Fitto – Videonola

Ultimatum: 45 days for Minister Fitto. The much-discussed Development and Cohesion Funds now seem close, after the fourth section of the Council of State, with sentence 4321/2024 published today, ascertained the obligation of the Minister for European Affairs “to define the procedure for stipulating the Cohesion agreement with the Campania Region for the destination of funds”.

The appeal, presented last January by the Campania Region, which complained about the delay in the conclusion of the agreement, stipulated instead with the majority of the other Regions and autonomous Provinces, and the impossibility of financing numerous strategic interventions for the Campania region.

The Council of State considered that “the obligation of the Ministry exists even when the law provides that an agreement of an equal and bilateral nature must be concluded, as this mechanism presupposes active and loyal cooperation between the State and the Region, which must in any case lead to the definition, by the State, of the procedure for allocating resources”.

Only 45 days to define the assignment plan. “We hope, underlined President De Luca, that at this point the long and shameful chain of pretexts, delays and instrumental delays, which has penalized and continues to penalize businesses, families and municipalities in Campania, has come to an end. The goal is now to work in the interests of our communities. It is the result of the battle of civilization and dignity in which hundreds of mayors, administrators and ordinary citizens have engaged in recent months.”
