LAWN – Second theft, within six months, at the Barni hardware store in via Strozzi. Luckily, this time the criminals left with a small amount of stolen goods.
“They entered during the night between Thursday and Friday, around 1.30 am – says Gianluca Barni –. Last November the thieves broke the door, but this time they broke the window behind the shop. I learned of their entry a few minutes later, when I received the call from the Carabinieri. They wanted to get a bicycle but they weren’t able to get it completely out of the shop and then, when they saw the police lights which are clearly visible at night, they ran away.”
They had prepared various things to take away, but due to the very rapid arrival of the police they were unable to take what they were interested in, so much so that a hat and a bag were left behind which were seized by the police.
“What they managed to do – says the trader – is take away the cash fund”. When we ask Gianluca if the timely arrival of the police was the result of greater control of the area, he replies that no, it was a coincidence: “The police were called by those who live above, what which didn’t happen when they stole in November, in fact they took more stuff away.”
In recent days, another trader in the street, says Barni, also suffered a theft.
The entire area has long been in the sights of the Prato underworld and indicates the shops that have suffered thefts since autumn, but “maybe they have forgotten someone, given that unfortunately the list is long”. (Andrea Mori)
