Work begins on the former Gil, a 6 million euro intervention for a conference room, study rooms, relaxation room, new warehouses
There Andrea Zanzotto library it is increasingly becoming a cultural hub. The new project launched by the Municipality will determine the doubling of the spaces dedicated to the consultation and conservation of books. It will come like this the redevelopment of the former Gil building, which houses the library, has been completed. The project, in particular, involves the renovation of the north wing and the creation of a connection between this and the south wing, modifying the current entrance hall.
In addition to the seismic improvement and energy efficiency of the building, a box-like structure will be created, divided into three floors: the ground floor and first floor will be used as an archivewhile the second floor will host a large conference room characterized by a new roof. The load-bearing structure, composed of original and restored wooden trussesin fact, it will remain visible.
“In another wing of the building, study rooms and reading rooms will be created for students and for consulting volumes and in a third sector a glass passage connecting the two wings, fully autonomous, which will act as a new entrance and front library office – explains Sandro Zampese, councilor for public works of the Municipality of Treviso – The energy efficiency of the structure will be implemented through an internal insulation system on the vertical walls of all the buildings subject to the intervention”.
Furthermore, a relaxation room will be created for lunch, open shelf storage spaces, toilets, technical service rooms with lifts to the various floors and connection ramps for theremoval of architectural barriers. The intervention also involves the construction of new lighting, heating and cooling, fire detection systems and a photovoltaic system on the roof.
The work, thanks to the collaboration with the Community Policies sector of Ca’ Sugana, obtained a loan of 6 million from Pnrr funds. The works will last approximately 700 days.
