Sanremo. «I am happy that in Sanremo the Blue Flag was reconfirmed on the Tre Ponti, Imperatrice, Bussana, Baia Capo Pino and Tiro a Volo beaches», said the outgoing Environment Councilor Sara Tonegutti, candidate on the Sanremo al Centro list in Alessandro Mager’s civic coalition.
The Blue Flag, international recognition established in 1987, the European Year of the Environment, is awarded every year in 49 countries. It is a voluntary eco-label assigned to seaside tourist resorts that respect criteria relating to sustainable land management.
«The main objective of this program is to direct the local management policy of numerous coastal locations towards a process of environmental sustainability. The outgoing municipal administration – explains Sara Tonegutti – has initiated over the years an environmental quality process to be implemented transversally between citizens, local operators and schools, to start a virtuous path of sustainable development, continuous improvement, making use of the support of an Environmental Management System implemented according to the UNI EN ISO standard 14001:2015 and certified by a third party, EMAS, which constitutes a coveted EU recognition issued by the Interministerial Committee for Ecolabel and Ecoaudit. This concrete virtuous path started in recent years – concludes Sara Tonegutti – will have to be strongly supported by the next municipal administration and implemented with new environmental awareness initiatives”.
