CASERTA MERCHANT INVESTIGED FOR MISTREATMENT IN THE FAMILY

A tragic case of domestic violence has shaken the town of Caserta, where a respected businessman has been accused of mistreatment towards his wife, a legal professional who found the courage to report the horror she experienced for over four years.

The victim, a lawyer whose name was not revealed for privacy reasons, told the investigators about the nightmare she had to endure, which has been going on since at least 2020. Her husband, a 55-year-old man and owner of a shop in the city center, allegedly perpetrated a series of physical and psychological abuse against her.

According to what the victim reported, the man threatened her and their daughter with death, even brandishing a knife and making threats to throw her off the balcony. The acts of physical and verbal violence would have followed one another over the years, culminating with a violent slap to the woman’s face during a friends’ wedding.

The situation reached its limit when the victim decided to contact the police at the end of March, as she could no longer bear the constant harassment from her husband. Judge Alessandra Grammatica of the Santa Maria Capua Vetere court then issued a restrictive measure that prevents the 55-year-old from coming within 500 meters of his wife and daughter.

The case is now in the hands of the lawyer Paolo Falco, responsible for following the legal process. “The protection of the injured party requires an enormous sense of responsibility on the part of the defender in this type of event,” commented lawyer Falco. “The Cartabia reform has significantly expanded the protections provided for victims of domestic violence and it is the defender’s duty to report to the competent bodies everything that may be useful to address the risk that arises for the safety of his client and avoid harmful situations.”

It is hoped that justice can take its course and that the victim can find the serenity and security he deserves. Meanwhile, the community rallies around her, demonstrating solidarity and support in this difficult moment.
