Bologna, 12 June 2024 – “It’s a great challenge”. Put on your glasses with pride Andrea Bolognesi, director of the Bologna Canal Consortiumwho together with the mayor Matteo Lepore and to the councillor Valentina Orioli inaugurated the ‘first light’ on the Rhine Canal which will be brought to light in via Riva Reno, as part of the works of the first red tram line.

The stretch discovered this morning, the one behind of the church of Santa Maria della Visitazionewill then be covered with a new insole.

Behind it, from the church to the intersection with Via San Felice, the canals will really take shape, with glass covering the waterway and recirculating water which will animate the canals.

Again from Bolognesi: “Today the analyzes of the water tell us that they are of the same quality as those that flow in Casalecchio – he said -, so no alarm, on the contrary. If something changes, we will take care of it. In this regard, we will open a new analysis center of water in our offices in via della Grada”. The mayor is satisfied.

“This stretch will soon be very lively, a great opportunity for the whole city, the whole area will be more beautiful and will gain value – Lepore told reporters -. No worries about the tram works, we are respecting the times and the timetable, we will deal with the inconveniences if there are any.”

The intersection of via Lame with via Riva Renoclosed for two months, will reopen in July. At the same time, the intersection with San Felice will be closed and the works will move there. Work will also start in Ugo Bassi in the summer. The manager Cleto Carlini: “The works on the entire Via Indipendenza will take up all of 2024 and all of 2025. We will have the tram in mid-2026”.
