A meeting took place at the ERSU Palermo premises between the director of the body for the right to university education in western Sicily, Ernesto Brunoand the president of Andisu, Alessandro Ciro Sciretti.
Andisu is the body to which the 39 DSU bodies in Italy belong, with the aim of promoting the right to university study, networking the bodies with the regions, universities and the Ministry of the University to coordinate the planning of interventions and resources for students, in the direction of full access to university studies.
During the meeting, the director Ernesto Bruno presented the policies carried out by the governance of ERSU Palermo, highlighting the efforts made in terms of the provision of scholarships: in recent days in Palermo it had been decided to cover 1,400 more scholarships compared to last year academic, with the satisfaction of 100% of second year and subsequent students and 75% of first year students (a percentage that could grow in the event of further resources being found). In total, ERSU Palermo has awarded 11,400 scholarships with amounts of up to 7,655.00 euros. The topic of residential housing was also addressed in which the director highlighted the commitment of the C. of A. and the ERSU Administration to find new properties to be allocated to university residences with the possibility of using the resources of the PNRR.
“Together with the topic of scholarships on which ANDISU is committed on a daily basis, it is very important to increase the number of beds intended for all female and university students, as well as beds for the right to study – declared the ANDISU president, Alessandro Ciro Sciretti – therefore both for scholarship holders, deserving and without means, and beds for the market: this is being done thanks to the 1.2 million euro tender that the Mur has published and which will serve to create 60,000 new beds by June 2026. An ambitious and challenging objective, which will really serve to impact the competitiveness of our system and which will see a significant growth in supply. Andisu is bringing together all the associates and bodies for the right to education, in partnership with the Ministry, trying to involve local administrations to achieve this ambitious objective of the Pnrr together. Also for this reason, precisely with an eye towards the South of the country, we have decided to hold the National Council of the 39 Italian bodies for the right to education in Palermo on 1 and 2 July”.
