The Association “DEMOS Paolo Roberti” continuing the participatory spirit of the founder, proposes a meeting on “Differentiated Autonomy”.

The event, under the patronage of the City of Legnano, will take place Thursday 16 May 2024 at 8.30 pm at Palazzo Leone da Perego, in Via Monsignor Eugenio Gilardelli, 10.

Professor Enzo Balboni, full professor of Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, will introduce the evening. He will open the debate by outlining the legal and constitutional contours of differentiated autonomy, an issue that continues to divide public opinion between those who see it as an opportunity for greater administrative effectiveness and those who fear it could lead to regional disparities.

There will be among the guests the Honorable Stefano Candiani of the League and the Honorable Alessandro Alfieri of the Democratic Party. The discussion will be enriched by the presence oflawyer Stefania Bonaldi, expert in Italian local autonomies, who will share her legal and practical point of view on the topic.

The meeting will also be uan opportunity for citizens to interact directly with the speakers during the “Question Time”, a segment of the evening dedicated to questions from the audience. Public administration experts will respond to the issues raised, providing clarifications and insights.

The event is open to all citizens, highlighting the importance of popular involvement in local and regional governance issues.

«There are today as many as 20 matters of concurrent legislation (that is, of common competence of the central State and the Regions) which, on the basis of the draft law on differentiated autonomy, will be able to be fully borne by the regional bodies. Not only. Three others too
matters which are currently only of central competence – the organization of justice of the peace, the general rules on education, the protection of the environment, the ecosystem and cultural heritage – could be decentralized if the reform reaches its goal. Here, in summary, is what is at stake in the tug of war underway in Parliament regarding the Calderoli law, the historic “flag” of the League. In short, a redistribution of powers, thanks to a different allocation of public resources, from Rome to those territories that request it”

A particularly “hot” and very current topic, with the ball in play, which will be introduced by Prof. Enzo Balboni, professor of constitutional law at the Catholic University of Milan with the aim of framing the different evaluations of the law by the Honorable Stefano Candiani for the League and the Honorable Alessandro Alfieri for the Democratic Party.
The impact of the reform at the local sub-regional level will be exposed by the lawyer. Stefania Bonaldi for Italian Local Autonomies (ALI). The presence of personalities linked to politics and civil society is expected who will hopefully liven up the “question time” at the end of the evening.
