Basilicata is the most expensive region in relation to the school lunch service. Despite a drop in the figure compared to the previous year, the small region wins this bitter record.
This is what emerges from the results of the seventh Cittadinanzattiva survey on the cost of school canteens in the Italian peninsula. In particular, a Lucanian family spends an average of 109 euros per month, compared to the average expense of 85 euros incurred for the canteen of a child enrolled in primary or nursery school respectively.
Therefore the Lucanian territory is placed on the highest step of the podium in this special ranking, followed by Emilia Romagna (107 euros) and Liguria (103 euros). Instead, the cheapest region is Sardinia, which stops at 61 euros for childhood and 65 for primary school.
The report highlights how the increase in the cost of school canteens is over 3%. In fact, only in two regions does the cost of meals remain unchanged compared to the previous year (Abruzzo and Valle d’Aosta) and only in four (Basilicata, Lazio, Tuscany and Umbria) does it decrease. In the others, however, very significant increases have been recorded, as in the case of Calabria (+26%), Lombardy (+7.5%), Molise (+7.2%), Puglia (+6.9%), Liguria (+6.83%) and Friuli Venezia Giulia (+5.9%).
As for the cities, Barletta is the cheapest followed by Cagliari, Ragusa and Enna. Among the most expensive places, however, is the reconfirmation of Turin (at the top of the list for years), followed by Modena, Trapani and Livorno.
