Wamgroup wins the first of the two matches against Acciaierie Valbruna Bolzano at the end of a highly physical match. The octopuses advance in the series, with game 2 to be played in South Tyrol next Sunday. Cavezzo does well to start off on the right foot, but Bolzano doesn’t let go. At the end of the first quarter the hosts were ahead by three, before extending to +6 after 20′. Upon returning to the field, the guests were ready and overwhelmed the octopuses with a partial score of 3-11, reducing the deficit to just two points with 10′ to go. In the last quarter, all the experience of Verona and Costi comes into play, accustomed to such important occasions, and with their 30 points in total they give the winning breakthrough to bring home game 1. With a couple of seconds to play, Cavezzo takes over find themselves unprepared and suffer a two-goal which gives them new lifeblood for their return to the South Tyrolean team. The home team ended the match at 63-56 overall, knowing that this cannot give too much peace of mind for next Sunday’s match.
