From mid-June it will be possible to book Mom rides via the app on Friday and Saturday evenings

Public transport on request on summer evenings in Treviso: the testing of the new service, called Mom +, will start on Friday and Saturday evenings next summer. The objective is to contribute to the liveliness and attractiveness of the historic center and beyond, guaranteeing sustainable and citizen-friendly mobility for connections between the center and the neighborhoods.

From June 14th to September 7th, from 8.30 pm to midnight, therefore, it will be possible to book your trip from seven days up to 30 minutes before departure, via the Mom+ App or on the telephone number 0422-588611. The reference area of on-demand public transport will be over 15 square kilometers in the municipal area of Treviso, while the active stops marked by specific signs will be 262. Each transport request will be managed by specialized software that combines incoming requests and manages them by offering passengers the fastest and most comfortable journey for their transfer from origin to destination.

Three dedicated electric buses with a special console to manage the routes

At the service three small electric buses will be dedicated, equipped with a dedicated console on board to guide the driver in managing reservations and routes. An operations center will instead manage the service remotely, also inserting telephone reservations.

Marcon: “Environmental sustainability operation”

“We had already announced it for months and today we are proud to present together with Mom, starting from the capital city, the new experimental on-call service which will be active in Treviso, Villorba and Vittorio Veneto – underlines Stefano Marcon, president of the Province of TrevisoAn easily accessible tool, developed with the aim of responding even better to citizens’ needs and, at the same time, optimizing routes, with a view to sustainability and reducing the impact on the environment. Everything is the result of a specific study on the needs of MOM users. In this first phase, in Villorba and Vittorio Veneto the service will be active from mid-June (the official dates will be communicated soon) and will expand the area “covered” by vehicles in the off-peak hours, in the morning and in the afternoon, guaranteeing effective transport all day and every weekday, including Saturday. In Treviso the Friday and Saturday evening slots, covered until midnight, will make it easier to travel around the city every summer evening”.

De Checchi: “Most attractive city for workers, residents and tourists”

“In the typical nature of flexible services, we have deliberately focused on evening services because the city has been waiting for this type of public transport for a long time, in order to respond to multiple needs – he observes Andrea De Checchi, Mobility Councilor of the Municipality of TrevisoThose who work will thus be able to use local public transport at the end of the day, tourists can enjoy the city by public transport in the evening and residents will be able to travel in the evening without using their own transport. Services like this can be summarized in two fundamental aspects: more sustainable mobility and more attractiveness for the city”.

Bianchessi: “We continue to focus on technological innovation”

Concludes Corrado Bianchessi, operations director of Mom, the company that manages local public transport in Treviso and other municipalities in the province: “Intelligent transport services allow cities to achieve new sustainability and traffic reduction objectives, offering citizens mobility services tailored to their needs. For MOM, technological innovation is an integral part of all our company systems, today it is used to improve the travel experience and make the transport service more efficient and usable, so that it can be an alternative to private transport not only for a significant “convenience” in terms of environmental sustainability but also in consideration of the high frequency of the trips, their flexibility and the high degree of comfort offered by the service. At the end of this experiment we will verify the usage data and decide whether to extend this solution or whether, in agreement with the municipal administration, develop a different solution for the future”.

For the new service you will pay the ticket for urban journeys, without additional costs. Likewise, it will be included in the subscription for the urban network. Furthermore some free tickets will be distributed to citizens during some promotional events: first appointment on May 31st in Borgo Mazzini on the occasion of the public presentation of Pums, the urban plan for sustainable mobility.
