International Bergamot Fair and Museum

A visionary project for Reggio Calabria presented by the entrepreneur Pino Falduto. Proposal registered yesterday at the Municipality of Reggio Calabria and addressed to all local and regional authorities, as well as to the Prefect Clara Vaccaro and the Chamber of Commerce.

Pino Falduto, an entrepreneur from Reggio Calabria and an important figure in local trade, illustrated the details of his ambitious project for the creation of the “Reggio Calabria International Fair – Citrus Park – School of Perfumery and Bergamot Museum”. This project is intended to transform the Mortara locality, integrating the new Atam headquarters and exploiting funds from the “Reggio Decree” agreement.

Falduto expressed strong enthusiasm for the contribution that the project will bring to the economic and cultural development of the city. “It is a perennial contribution to the improvement of our city,” says Falduto, underlining the importance of an integrated strategy that enhances both local heritage and new commercial opportunities.

According to his calculations, the completed work should require relatively low maintenance costs compared to the large expected benefits, with around €1.1 million per year in maintenance versus estimated revenues of €1.25 million per year.

The entrepreneur places emphasis on the sustainability of the project, highlighting how the latter will not only attract visitors and professionals from all over the world, but also how it will be a catalyst for the further development of the south of the city, valorising the bergamot in particular , symbol of this region.

In conclusion, Pino Falduto sees this project not only as an investment in infrastructure, but as a fundamental initiative for the relaunch and promotion of the cultural and commercial identity of Reggio Calabria.

Exhibition facility: 13,921,200 euros for 15,468 m2
Entrance/Exit Hall: 6,602,400 euros for 5,502 m2
Bergamot Museum: 964,800 euros for 804 m2
Citrus Park: 2,425,100 euros for 24,251 m2
Squares and Paths: 2,335,800 euros for 23,358 m2
Covered Parking: 8,850,000 euros for 17,700 m2
These figures reflect the large scale of the project and the intensity of the work planned to create a multifunctional complex that will serve both as a cultural hub and a center of tourist attraction.

Maintenance and Management Costs

To ensure the sustainability and efficiency of the complex once completed, annual maintenance and management costs have been budgeted at €1,110,500. These include:

Cleaning of rooms and common areas: 100,000 euros
Security and concierge: 150,000 euros
Management and administrative responsibility: 135,000 euros
Building, green and plant maintenance: 155,000 euros
Electricity: 165,000 euros
Marketing: 185,000 euros
Local taxes and waste management: 185,500 euros
Water fee: 35,000 euros
These costs reflect careful planning for the efficient management of facilities and services, ensuring that the complex remains an attractive and well-maintained place for visitors and businesses.

Economic Prospects

The expected annual revenues from the management of the complex are estimated at 1,250,500 euros, deriving from trade fair events, museum admissions and rentals for temporary rentals, indicating a potential positive and sustainable economic return over time.

The investment in the International Fair and the Bergamot Museum is seen as a catalyst for urban renewal and economic growth in Reggio Calabria, promising to transform the city into an important cultural and tourist hub on the international scene.
