Sassari After many electoral confrontations in the name of fair play, the fireworks exploded yesterday at the Hotel Grazia Deledda, in a meeting organized by the San Paolo-San Giuseppe committee and moderated by the journalist Pier Giorgio Pinna. He didn’t show up for the confrontation Giuseppe Palopoli of “Sassari Awake”, while Nicola Lucchi (Civics) left the room almost immediately, after the first round of questions, due to personal commitments. So they remained at the table Gavino Mariotti of the centre-right coalition, Giuseppe Mascia of Campo largo e Mariano Brianda of the Constituent Assembly for Sassari.
The second round of questions promoted by the moderator was presented as “bad” questions and the first was addressed to the rector Gavino Mariotti regarding the investigation into mafia and secret association within the “Monte Nuovo” investigation of the DDA of Cagliari. Mariotti gave his version of the facts, reiterating that he had met the Orgolese Tonino Crissantu within the university activities concerning prisoners and that he had been invited to some snacks in Barbagia in which he did not deny having participated, adding that his relations with the Orgolese people investigated in the investigation stopped there.
The second question was addressed to Mariano Brianda, who was asked to explain why in his list defined as “young people” there are people around 40 years of age.
The question, however, triggered a reaction from Mariotti who contested unequal treatment in the “nastiness” of the questions and the audience also began to make noise in the room. After a few minutes of protests and discussions, the rector decided to leave the room followed by several people. The atmosphere in the room, to the embarrassment of the organizers, at that point became surreal, in a climate that was certainly not what everyone expected.
The electoral confrontation was thus reduced to a face-to-face match between Giuseppe Mascia and Mariano Brianda, who found themselves in a rather uncomfortable situation, certainly different from the one for which they had presented themselves. So they too, after a brief consultation, decided to abandon the comparison and left the “Grazia Deledda”.
