“Macfrut confirms itself as a fundamental event for fruit and vegetables in Puglia, with the entire regional supply chain present at the Rimini Fair, in functional spaces which gave the opportunity to Puglian companies to present fruit and vegetable products to buyers and thousands of visitors , coming from different parts of the world”.

This is the comment of the Agriculture Councilor of the Puglia Region Donato Pentassuglia at the end of the specialized Macfrut 2024 review, which saw the organizational synergy of the Agriculture, Rural and Environmental Development Department with Unioncamere Puglia. The Puglia Region was the partner region for this 41st edition of Macfrut, bringing in particular its production experience on table grapes, for which it is the leading region in Italy, representing 60% of total production.

The institutional area in pavilion B1 of the Rimini Expo Center was a meeting place for the Apulian associations, professional associations, training bodies and local authorities present at Macfrut 2024, with a series of technical insights, presentations of events dedicated to enhancement of table grapes, sharing of good practices for the defense of field production. “During Macfrut specifically, there was a focus on new cultivars – recalled the Agriculture Councilor of the Puglia Region – which means an opportunity to differentiate the production offer, without forgetting the proposals presented in Rimini dedicated to new production systems system, anti-freeze covers, tools to combat disasters. Competing in the global fruit and vegetable market is increasingly complex, but by combining research and innovation capabilities with the experience of our producers, Puglia can continue to be a protagonist in the entire sector.”

Macfrut 2024 also marked the virtuous collaboration between the Apulian chefs and custodians of the rural tradition and the students of the IISS Alberghiero Consoli of Castellana Grotte for the creation of twelve different show cooking sessions, for over 200 seats served, with the fruit and vegetables of Puglia, increasingly appreciated in Italy and in the world, together with traditional products and DOP and IGP denominations, starting naturally from the extra virgin olive oil produced in the various areas of Puglia.
