CAMPOBASSO – The mayor Paola Felicedeputy mayor who took the place of Roberto Gravina when the latter was proclaimed regional councilor, will not stand for re-election for the municipal elections of 8 and 9 June.
“A painful but convinced decision – said Felice – in these 10 years in the City Council I have dedicated all my energy, my experience and my passion in each of the different roles I have held (councillor, councilor for culture and activities productive, vice mayor and mayor, or rather deputy mayor regent). I have always tried to carry out each role with seriousness, professionalism, resourcefulness and that feminine touch that provides institutions with a new sensitivity.
The pride of representing the city I love has become even deeper in this year as Mayor, or rather, as the first citizen. From the first moment I wore the band I strongly felt the honour, the burden and the beautiful responsibility not only of representing the City of Campobasso, but of being one with it, above all by continuing to “listen” to my fellow citizens.
It was an extraordinary experience: I received so much from all the people I met, worked with and interacted with; I learned a lot from all those who advised me but also from those who criticized me, giving me the strength and incentive to always try to improve to carry out my tasks as best as possible. I have grown a lot and I can confidently say that I have become a better person.
Over these years I have always promoted team work and it is precisely this team work that allows me to say that I have contributed to training people who have shared this path with me, who I am sure will be able to best express their abilities for the good of Campobasso also in the next council session.
I will continue to commit myself in the awareness that not having an elective role does not mean abandoning politics. On the contrary, it means being able to exercise it in other forms – as each of us should do every day – also by disconnecting it from certain self-referential dynamics from which unfortunately no party is immune and which personally do not belong to me. Just as, for the coherence of which I pride myself, the logic of the wide field does not belong to me.
Sincere good luck to the three mayoral candidates, who I am sure love Campobasso as much as I do, with the hope of knowing how to “make a city” before even becoming Mayor.”
