Five out of six teams were already sure of a place, all that remained to be known was the final position in the standings: now everything is decided. After Vanoli’s team, Cremonese is in fourth place, followed by Catanzaro in fifth. Palermo finishes sixth, Sampdoria seventh and Brescia eighth. Ascoli bid farewell to Serie B, joining Feralpisalò and Lecco who were already relegated. Ternana and Bari go to the playouts.

playoffs

Six teams will compete for the last place in Serie A. The first round of the playoffs will be played in a single match: in the event of a draw, there will be room for extra time. After 120′ the best ranked team will advance, there are no penalties. For the semi-finals and finals there will be a double home and away match, with the second match played at the home of the club with the best placing. If it still ends up tied after 180′, the best-placed team at the end of the season will advance, without extra time or penalties.

Friday 17 May at 8.30pm: Palermo-Sampdoria.

Saturday 18 May at 8.30pm: Catanzaro-Brescia.

Palermo/Sampdoria-Venice (first leg May 20th, return leg May 24th).

Catanzaro/Brescia-Cremonese (first leg 21 May, return 25 May).

Winner of semi-final 1 – winner of semi-final 2 (first leg May 30th, second leg June 2nd).

playoffs

Ternana and Bari are the teams that will compete for salvation. In the event of a draw after the double match, the team with the worst placing in the standings will be relegated, therefore the red and whites. Breda’s team finished on 43, while Giampaolo’s team stopped at 41.

Bari-Ternana (first leg 16 May), Ternana-Bari (return 23 May).
