VENICE – Perhaps they denied him permission to use the bathroom, perhaps a word said at the wrong time to a person already impaired by alcohol: it didn’t take much for an Italian boy, apparently Venetian according to some witnesses, to fly into a rage and transform a corner of Venice in a ring. Last night the people who were enjoying an aperitif between the Riccio Peocco tavern and the kebab nearby (which a local police order closed for three days due to administrative irregularities) experienced moments of terror in Campo Santi Apostoli. The boy entered the kebab asking to use the bathroom, already impaired by alcohol: when the owner refused, the young man’s fury was unleashed, and he began to rail against the managers, throw chairs and break glasses, attempting to to hurt anyone who came within range.
