Historic centre, the construction site is expanding – L’Aquila

THE EAGLE. The construction site on Corso Federico II expands, and with it, also the changes to the traffic of the neighboring streets.
The new provisions regarding the expansion of the construction site and the related changes to circulation around the Piazza Duomo area, due to paving works, are contained in the latest municipal resolution, where it is specified that «starting from Monday 13 May we will proceed with the further phase of the scheduled works, which involves the extension of the construction site area to the stretch of Corso Federico II between Via Cesare Battisti and Via Monte Guelfi”.
Which on that same stretch will therefore determine the “closure of the roadway with the establishment of a ban on vehicular transit and a ban on parking on both sides and with its removal” starting from 8am on the same 13th May until 8pm on the following 30th June. Consequently, a ban on transit on Via Cesare Battisti has been envisaged starting from the same date.
On Via Monte Guelfi, however, there is a permanent ban on parking with forced removal along the right side going up, mandatory direction to the right and one-way traffic in the direction of the main street. Despite the controversies of residents and traders over a construction site in the historic center in forced stages, the administration therefore goes ahead and proceeds with the repaving work based on the declarations of the deputy mayor Raffaele Danielewhich recently promised the return of some of the main city squares by June, leveraging the community spirit of those who are paying the price.
