The Ceremony naming the Hall after Prof. will be held tomorrow, Friday 10 May, at 11.30 am, in the Hall of the Department of Law of the University of Palermo (Via Maqueda 172). Antonio Pagliaro (distinguished jurist).

The event includes greetings from the Rector of the University of Palermo Massimo Midiri and also those from the Director of the Department of Law Armando Plaia; the introduction will be by Vincenzo Militello, Professor of Criminal Law of the University of Palermo and the final speech will be given by Tullio Padovani, Academician of the Lincei and Professor of Criminal Law of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna of Pisa.

Antonio Pagliaro was born in Mistretta on 6 July 1932 and died in Palermo on 31 July 2023.

He was an Italian jurist and professor of Criminal Law at the University of Palermo (from 1968 to 2008), member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Licei (from 1998). He has published several criminal law manuals; he chaired the inter-ministerial commission for the reform of the Penal Code, established in 1988 by the Minister of Justice Giuliano Vassalli and which in 1991 led to the presentation of a draft delegation law for the new penal code.
