The CGIL of Carpi strongly condemns the act of vandalism at the offices of the two electoral committees of the mayoral candidates Riccardo Righi (centre-left) and Annalisa Arletti (centre-right).
This morning the offices appeared smeared with ranting writings that recall the slogans and symbols of self-styled “No Vax” (photo).
A very serious act, a cowardly attack on the headquarters of political parties through which the free and democratic participation of citizens in the next local elections is expressed.
The CGIL of Carpi asks that light be shed on the perpetrators of these attacks and that the culprits be identified. This is not the civil method for campaigning, which must instead be based on democratic, open discussion and respect for discordant ideas.
In response, believing in the defense and relaunch of democratic moments and in the spirit of our Constitution, we invite everyone to go and vote, so as not to let those who want to destroy our democratic institutions prevail.

«The city doesn’t deserve this. We believe that, regardless of the opinions expressed, discussion must always be healthy, free and civil. We will file a complaint and hope that such incidents will never happen again. However, I want to reiterate that if someone thought they were trying to intimidate or scare us, they largely failed: such acts can only strengthen our convictions and the will to do good for this city.”
«I learned – concludes Arletti – that the other political forces also suffered the same threats. Being adversaries and having different ideas does not prevent me from expressing maximum solidarity on my part and that of the entire center-right coalition towards them. Now we hope that the perpetrators of these actions will be found and adequately punished.”
