COSENZA – One was held this morning meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security presided over by the Prefect, Vittoria Ciaramella, which includes, in addition to the leaders of the police force, the Mayor of the capital municipality and the President of the Province. The meeting addressed the issue relating to entertainment venues, especially in the evening and at night, which is now too often seen as cause of disturbance of public peace and theater of violence, often an expression of youthful discomfort.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Confcommercio, the Italian Union of dance clubs and the Italian Union of seaside resorts precisely because, in addition to prevention and contrast measures, the Minister of the Interior intended to support the accountability of venue managers through trade associations. Therefore, steps have been taken to particularly raise awareness of these representative bodies so that they can give their concrete opinion contribution to the fight against illegal practices, which gives rise to conditions of insecurity and forms of unfair competition.
As mentioned, the aforementioned awareness raising will be added targeted control initiatives by the Police Forces who will count, even on these occasions, on the collaborative contribution of duly authorized local public bodies, who were asked to strengthen video surveillance systems and indicate a “security contact” for direct relations with the police forces themselves. The meeting then continued with the examination of some of the 59 municipal video surveillance projects presented in the province, in the presence of the respective mayors, aimed at accessing the funding provided by the Ministry of the Interior in a specific competition notice. The collegial examination aims to verify the compatibility of the project, including the location of the cameras, with the needs of public order and safety highlighted by the Police Force.
