According to Anci Lombardia, the province of Cremona is last in terms of the number of female mayors

“This year’s edition represents the eighth edition of this compendium which now represents a real compass, for enthusiasts and professionals, to move around the world of the over 1,500 municipalities that make up Lombardy and learn more about information and characteristics on the territories that they welcome them”, he declared in the preface to the volume Rinaldo Mario Redaelli General Secretary of Anci Lombardy.

“There are many themes taken into consideration: from demographic data to social data (population density, aging index, migration rate, etc.), from economic and financial data (financial and tax autonomy, transfers, expenses, active businesses, economic specializations of territories), to the state of unions and mergers of the Municipalities, of which we present an update as always, to the employed staff of the Municipalities and much more. Particular attention is dedicated to Small Municipalities of the region representing approximately the 70% of the total and to the mountain municipalities”.

But what are the peculiar characteristics of the province of Cremona? The first figure that catches the eye is that of the expenditure of the municipalities, where our province is fourth with 837.1 euros per capita.

Instead for the presence of railway stations in the municipalities: Cremona is in tenth position.

In detail

Going into the detail of the analysis carried out, the following are taken into consideration five macro areaseach in turn divided into subsections.

Institutions

From the point of view of institutions the province of Cremona, characterized by 113 municipalities in total, 89.4% smallappears to be below average in terms of presence of female mayors which stands at 10.1%, to the 12th placed at the regional level. At a regional level, in fact, the figure is 18.4%. At a registry level, however, sonly 2 municipalities out of 113 they can “boast” a mayor under 35 years of age.

Finance

Bad news for the province of Cremona on the voice finance. In fact, our province enjoys afinancial autonomy of the 68.20% (72.40% according to data referring to 2021 and which also take into account the revenues deriving from municipal solid waste). Given this which places it in tenth position at a regional level.

Instead, it ranks ninth for tax revenues (334.5 euros per capita), seventh per extra-tax (206.7 ) and for current income (793.7). Our province is also placed in the middle of the ranking in terms of transfers per capita (376.3 per capita) and fourth per municipal expenditure (837.1 euros per capita).

Economy

From an economic point of view, the province of Cremona ranks ninth in terms of number of active businesses: the data speaks clearly. At the end of 2022 there were 24,977 entities (data at the end of 2022), down by 3.70% on the previous year (-0.2% the regional average).

In terms of “weights”, in first place we find the primary sector (62.8%) following from industry (34.5%) and come on services for only 2.7%. As regards the 2021 taxable income and of 5.6 billion, equal to 26,554 euros per person (regional average of 29,787).

Territory

At a territorial level, the province of Cremona is in the middle of the table for installed power photovoltaic systems equal to 291 MW. The KW per square kilometer instead stands at 164.6.

In terms of motorization appears to be above the Lombard average and, in particular, stands at 64.7% compared to an average of 63.1%.

Society

In the voice “society” the province of Cremona ranks sixth in Lombardy in terms of migration rate with 42,483 people (foreign population) and aincidence on the resident population of 12.10%.

A significant figure for the province of Cremona is that linked to population decrease of -6.2 per thousand inhabitants, compared to a regional average of 4.47 and a national average of 5.45. Since it places it at fourth place in Lombardy.
