During today’s appointment with ‘A Tutta C’ on the frequencies of TMW Radio, the former Pescara coach spoke Emmanuel Weights. These are his words.
What match was it for Pescara against Pontedera?
“Speaking of objective data, Pontedera played an excellent match with a very interesting football offering. He demonstrated that the season experienced by the team was not a coincidence, despite the predictions not being in their favor. On points Pontedera deserved something more, it was a very tough and two-sided match for Pescara. In the first half he was in the game, but in the second half a well-organised team like Pontedera suffered a lot.”
Is the most difficult thing for Pescara to move beyond the figure of Zeman?
“Pescara was built in the image and likeness of Mister Zeman, any insertion could have been difficult. Emmanuel Cascione gave peace of mind, changed little and invented nothing. He gave more balance and more screen to the defense, he tried to keep the lines tighter. It’s not that football that excites, but somehow you also have to adapt to the category.”
Can Juventus Next Gen be a dangerous opponent for Pescara given the lightness with which they can play?
“I don’t want to contradict you, but I believe that Juventus can go to Serie B and therefore I believe that the enthusiasm of this team could be very dangerous. There are elements of absolute prospect, it is one of the roses with the most important economic value and there is something in this rose. The experience they paid for at the start of the first round where they were in the relegation zone has now seen exponential growth. The experience gap was filled by the enormous quality that the boys have.”
Who could be the protagonists of these playoffs?
“I followed Serie C in general, I followed the three groups and it’s easy to talk about teams like Padova, Benevento or Avellino. I think a surprise could be Carrarese, who surprises me with their quality and organization of play. Another team that I wouldn’t leave too much on the sidelines is Taranto, which is experiencing sensational enthusiasm thanks to a coach like Capuano. The coach doesn’t change, he is fabulous in communication and is a driving force for everyone. He creates a total family with the square and Taranto as a fiery square in love with football is fertile ground for him. Now Taranto is problematic for everyone. Let’s not forget the great work of Mr. Donati at Legnago, it’s another team that could go a long way in these playoffs.”
How do you experience a playoff challenge with the climate that Pescara is experiencing?
“I played for Pescara and I had wonderful years, we achieved a goal as big as Serie A. I achieved the playoffs in Serie B as a coach, in Pescara you live for Pescara. This departure due to factors that have nothing to do with football, but of antipathy towards the company’s management, is very regrettable. Pescara football needs a twelfth man on the pitch, the Pescara support is engaging. I won’t go into the dynamics between fans and the club, but for the love that Pescara fans show when they talk about Pescara, it’s a shame that they don’t go en masse to support the team in search of this miracle. Pescara is not a complicated square, it is a disaffected square.”
Can Catania also be competitive in the playoffs at this moment?
“It was a very complicated year due to changes on the bench and corporate instability. The minimum objective was achieved, but it is as if it were a square with plasters. Consolidating and pushing to get to the end is tough. I see it as complicated. Going up from C is very difficult, it takes planning and you don’t have to shoot darts. Look at how long it took Bari to rise to Serie B, look at the path taken by Cesena. Pescara has been playing in Serie C for 5-6 years and the whole movement is affected, there is a lack of resources for the youth sector and Serie C becomes hell for places like this.”
