The exhibition

“Night Anatomies” is a story of the metamorphoses and transformations that life, in a silent and mysterious world, operates in the various dimensions of the cosmos. In this exhibition Marisa Zattini presents a series of works created in various techniques and supports (mirror-polished aluminum plates, PVC sheets, ink works on ancient letters and much more). The artist herself is an alchemist, a sorceress, a scientist who takes notes on ancient sheets of paper drawing insects, worms, normally almost invisible creatures, to give them life and bring them back to the sight of us human beings.

Each work is first and foremost writing and text to be seen and deciphered. The triptych of “My heart laid bare” is a reconfirmation of this. Works as orientation signs and sense measurement tanks. Human organs – in this case the “heart” – become ideographic alphabets and archetypal anamorphoses. The shapes change, the lines dilate and the retinal impression changes but the essence remains unchanged. In this very serious game of luminous shadows, imaginative horizons expand like celestial constellations for new universal magnetisms, where psychological and anatomical realities of the human flourish differently, meet – or clash – with unexpected and subtle reinventions.
