Raffele ‘Lello’ Barra has died at the age of 75. Born in Cuneo in 1949, after graduating in gemology and mineralogy, he moved to Sanremo in 1971.

Passionate about skiing, he opened the sporting goods business ‘Eurosport’, also offering repair-workshop services, connected to diving (in summer) and skiing (in winter). He attended a course at the Riviera dei Fiori Sub Center, obtaining an instructor’s license and starting courses for aspiring divers, both Italian and foreign.

He has explored underwater wrecks, successfully dedicating himself to the training and preparation of diving for disabled people, even with serious conditions, in collaboration with the ‘Integrabili’ association. He collaborated in the installation, in Cape Verde on a 28 meter seabed, of the ‘Madonnina dei Fiori’ in memory of Rudy Crespi, a diver.

Last year he was awarded the position of ‘Sea Consul’ and was also a volunteer driver for Lilt. Unfortunately, a serious illness took him away from the affection of his loved ones. “We are truly moved – Lilt underlines – Lello was our volunteer driver for many years and always had a big smile on his face”.
