This afternoon, a meeting organized by the Order of Journalists on a topic of great importance was held in the “Luigi Giglia” classroom of the Free Municipal Consortium of Agrigento: “Journalists yesterday, today and tomorrow: the changing profession, the profession that will be between freedom of the press, gag rules, precarious journalism, ethical charters“.
The event was opened by Antonietta Testone, head of the Extraordinary Commissioner’s cabinet, who expressed appreciation for the importance of the debate, even though the Commissioner was busy elsewhere. The discussion saw the participation of several prominent figures, including Roberto GueliPresident of the Order of Journalists in Sicily and Rai Co-Director of the TGR, Tiziana TavellaPresident of the Regional Council of Assostampa and coordinator of the National Self-Employment Commission of the Fsni, Roberto Ginexnational councilor of the Fnsi, Sergio Magazzùprovincial secretary of Assostampa Messina and deputy vice president of Ussi Sicilia, Thomas DaquannoDirector of the National Italian Press Federation, e Alessandra CostanteGeneral Secretary of the National Federation of the Italian Press.
The debate was moderated by Dario Broccioeditorial manager of Agrigento of “La Sicilia”, while Gero Tedescojournalist of the Giornale di Sicilia and secretary of the Agrigento press association, focused attention on the risks and rights of reporters.
Topics such as the importance of the role of the journalist in a rapidly evolving media landscape, the growing precariousness of the profession, the limits of the right to freedom of the press and other similar topics fueled the important presentations of the speakers for the benefit of the participants inside the council chamber .
