REGGIO EMILIA – According to the investigators, the center of everything would be here: via Degani, Campovolo area. This shed is the headquarters of Spa area, a company specialized in the marketing of telephone accessories and spare parts. In recent years the company had recorded a dramatic increase in turnover, which went from 50 million in 2019 to 108 in 2021. We haven’t seen anyone here for months.
The company is involved in an investigation by European prosecutor’s office which brought to light an illicit system aimed at committing tax crimes, such as VAT evasion and the issuing of false invoices. A ride worth millions of euros. The European Prosecutor’s Office is an independent EU institution, operational since June 2021: it investigates transnational financial crimes.
The magistrates Giordano Baggio And Alberto Pioletti they investigated 31 people: among these are Corrado Mussiniborn in 1971, domiciled in Reggio, Area purchasing manager; Bruno Ibbatici74 years old, resident in Reggio, president of the Board of Directors; Amerigono Bertolini, 49 year old from Scandiano, vice president. But not only that: the names of also emerge from the investigation papers Gianluca Aleotti51 year old resident of the city, sole director of the company Resol with headquarters in via Martiri della Bettola, and of Matteo Davoli48 year old domiciled in Scandiano, administrator of Md Line in via Livatino in Reggio. The latter two are under investigation because their companies are allegedly involved in false invoicing.
The notice of conclusion of the investigations is dated 22 November 2023: the proceedings are based in the court of Latina as most of the subjects involved and the companies that had relationships with Area Spa reside and have their headquarters in the Pontine territory. The European prosecutor’s office requested a seizure of 38 million euros from the Area company: a request that was rejected by the investigating judge who declared himself incompetent. In recent days, on April 23rd, the prosecution appealed but the Lazio court postponed everything until June 25th.
