arrested for stalking in Arezzo

He stalked her, sent her unwelcome messages of a sexual nature, left chocolates, flowers and underwear in her car. A morbid behavior that led to the arrest of a 50-year-old by State Police agents three days ago. The handcuffs went off for stalking right in front of the Arezzo shop where the woman works as a sales assistant on Saturday 4 May. They were the police operators of the Flying Squad, led by the manager Marco Gallorini, to intervene following the report: the man was inside his car stationed near the business. The victim had reported it a few days earlier following repeated episodes of harassment and persecution.

The reconstruction of what happened

The investigators ascertained that the two had met a few months earlier, starting to hang out as friends, until the man began to demonstrate an increasingly strong attachment towards the victim. Following his morbid attitudes, the woman had repeatedly expressed her desire to end the friendship relationship, however the daily phone calls and messages continued unabated, even with sexual and threatening content; Furthermore, several times the victim had spotted the man under his home or workplace and on more than one occasion he had found gifts left in the car such as chocolate bars, roses and women’s underwear. These behaviors, repeated over time, have led the woman to fear for her own safety and even to change her lifestyle habits for fear of meeting the stalker at home or when leaving work. The fifty-year-old was thus arrested in flagrante delicto for persecutory acts and, at the disposal of the judicial authority, subjected to the measure of house arrest pending validation which took place today.
