Appointment on Saturday 11 May, 5.30 pm, in Fivizzano (MS), in the headquarters of the Abate Emanuele Gerini Civic Library, for the inauguration of the “Dialoghi” exhibition, starring the Tuscan artists Giorgia Madiai and Fabrizio Da Prato.

Created with the patronage of the Municipality of Fivizzano with the culture department led by Francesca Nobili, of the Regional Natural Park of the Apuan Alps and of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines National Park, the exhibition curated by Alice Barontini presents a large corpus of unpublished graphic-pictorial works and installations, combined for the occasion with a small selection of archive works to highlight the continuity of the aesthetic and conceptual research carried out over time by the two artists.

The exhibition was born from the idea of creating a multiple dialogue: between artists (who for the occasion created a series of four-handed works), between different techniques used, supports, styles, exhibition context… But also between artists and the territory of Lunigiana, which they traveled several times in recent months.

In particular, Da Prato and Madiai focused on visiting the historic center of Fivizzano and discovering some of its villages, allowing themselves to be freely inspired by some elements linked to nature, local history, agri-food traditions, artistic and cultural heritage.

In particular, some suggestions experienced during these short stages were selected and explored in depth because they were “in dialogue” with the path of the individual artists and considered stimulating to create connections with their personal creative gaze. Images, encounters, discoveries have thus been reworked in a creative, intimate and personal way in the studio and will be returned to the exhibition in the form of works of art created on different supports including fabrics, posters, paintings and plasters.

Born in Castelnuovo in Garfagnana in 1965, Fabrizio Da Prato is the author of works, performances, installations united by the desire to undertake a lively and constructive dialogue with the territory and, using aesthetics as a means of anthropological and social reflection. Among its most recent operations are “Richiami Parma 2020-21”, “Richiami, Palermo 2018” “Richiami, Pistoia 2017” which followed the cities nominated “Italian Capital of Culture” to create opportunities for public culture instead of advertising.

Born in Livorno in 1971, Giorgia Madiai is a multifaceted artist. After dedicating herself to photography for a long time, since 2014 she has continued her pictorial journey, investigating themes such as conviviality and the female world. You often let different languages coexist, from painting to installation, from performance to live painting, from theater to sculpture, giving life to works in which irony, provocation, delicacy and reflection coexist and whose distinctive feature is the creation of connections between people.
