From Tuesday 7 to Thursday 9 May, at the Italo Calvino convention center, at the museum complex of Santa Maria della Scala of Siena, the fourth edition of “Safety meets Culture”, the forum dedicated to safety in the workplace. The three days will be at Free entry and open to all citizens.

Safety meets Culture arises from the will of CantierePro Company, specialized in the field of safety at work, to address a topic that is too often ignored, but which unfortunately always remains current.

Just think that only in the first two months of 2024 the death toll in the workplace speaks of 119 workers were killed on site or while they were on their way to work.

This year’s edition will talk about big news, such as the points licenceintroduced by the Government and which will officially come into force on October 1, 2024.

“SmC – He says Alessio Cencioni, CEO of CantierePro Srlit is the first national forum on the topic of safety, organized by professionals for all citizens; three days of testimonies, experiences, reflections brought to the attention of all those who want to know more about these issues and intend to be an active part in changing the general accident trend. The relevance of the guests and the topics covered demonstrate that Siena is a city open not only to issues that are more common to us but that has the desire to act as a national megaphone on very delicate and highly topical daily issues”.

“The Safety meets Culture forum – observes the professor Giovanni Minnucci, rector of the Siena Metropolitan Operait is an important initiative that talks about an equally important topic, especially in a historical context like this which still sees too many accidents and victims in the workplace. Furthermore, as regards Italian factories, I find it to be a unique opportunity to talk about the initiatives that the Siena Metropolitan Opera is carrying out in terms of safety. Tuesday 7 May will be a day of reflection and discussion. For this reason, we are pleased to host companies from all over Italy.”

“Like Ancecomments Giannetto Marchettini, president of Ance Sienawe are grateful to participate in this fourth edition which, this year, will have an even more particular impact. In fact, just yesterday, Wednesday 1st May, the decree was approved which will introduce the use of the points-based licence, a tool that will serve to protect the safety of workers, especially in risky sectors like ours. Precisely by virtue of the recent accidents and victims that have been recorded in our country, we are happy that Safety meets Culture has the ambition to address this issue”.

Precisely on this occasion we will talk, for the first time, about the great news relating to the introduction of points-based driving licence, an instrument desired by the Government to monitor and protect the safety of workers in the manufacturing sectors construction, construction and civil engineering.

Data on workplace safety and points-based driving licence

The first safety data relating to January-February 2024 they attest to one 19 percent growth in workplace victims, passing by 100 deaths in 2023 to 119 deaths in 2024.

An alarming figure, if also compared to the growth in complaints filed for accidents at work. INAIL, in fact, records 92,711 complaints submitted, considering accidents in the workplace and those while commuting, certifying an increase of 6,228 more injuries than in the two-month period January-February 2023.

This year, Labor Day was celebrated with a novelty desired by the Government: the introduction of license and points. From the October 1st 2024, in fact, this new instrument, aimed at workers, will come into force construction and civil engineering sectors, which will allow us to operate following all the regulations relating to safety in the workplace.

The license will work in the same way as the traditional one, used to drive vehicles, allowing workers to access the construction site. Any infringement, as well as any injury or accident suffered in the workplace will result in the deduction of points, which, below a certain threshold, will not allow you to work.

To accumulate points on your license you will need to take training courses and will be necessary both for workers and for entrepreneurs and professionals who operate in the sectors of the construction and civil engineering categories such as: construction; maintenance; repair; demolition; renovation or dismantling of fixed, permanent or temporary works; road, railway, hydraulic, maritime or hydroelectric works; disassembly or assembly of prefabricated elements.
