In Lombardy 850 bodycams for medics on ambulances

MILAN, 06 MAY – Since 2 May the operators on duty on the advanced medical rescue vehicles operating in the provinces of Bergamo and Monza-Brianza have been equipped with wearable bodycams. The use of the cameras, we read in a note from the Lombardy Region, is voluntary and is aimed at guaranteeing the safety and protection of the safety of the rescue workers. Currently, the Areu, awaiting the signing of trade union agreements regarding remote checks by the Asst/Irccs and third sector bodies, has provided bodycams to already trained healthcare personnel (doctors and nurses). By the summer, the 850 devices purchased will be distributed throughout the Lombardy region and installed on advanced emergency vehicles (medical vehicles, medical vehicles and air ambulances) and on basic emergency vehicles (ambulances of third sector bodies in agreement for 118). For this project, the Lombardy Region has already allocated 1.5 million euros. “Security is a priority for all citizens and, in particular, for healthcare workers, who in recent years have been increasingly victims of attacks – stated the Lombardy Region Councilor for Security Romano La Russa -. The hospital must be a safe and protected place of care, both for patients and for the operators themselves”. This initiative “goes in the direction of guaranteeing maximum safety for our healthcare workers, especially those on the front line such as rescuers, nurses and doctors involved in emergency services. Lombardy – added the regional councilor for Welfare Guido Bertolaso - is absolutely all “is at the forefront in the timeliness and coordination of rescue operations and also wants to be at the forefront in terms of safety”.
