Inflation, record blow on toilet paper

Sting on toilet paper, a universal consumer product for which inflation has caused a surge in costs. Thanks to the flare-up in energy spending which has hit one of the most energy-intensive industrial sectors, the price of a pack of 4 rolls in the last 4 years has undergone an average increase of 44.2% in Italy, but since89.8% in Tuscany, a Grosseto where it went from 1.66 to 3.15 euros.

The data was compiled by the Consumption Research and Training Center (Crc) which processed the data published on the specific Mimit observatory, comparing the current prices of toilet paper in Italian cities with those in force in 2021.

There Tuscany it is among the territories that has seen the greatest increases. There are two provinces in the national top ten prices per pack of 4 rolls. Beyond Grosseto which occupies the second step of the unwelcome podium, is also in the top 10 Livornoin 8th place with a price of 2.98 euros for 4 rolls (+85.1% compared to 2021).

But here it is Tuscan ranking of toilet paper price increases from 2021 to 2024. The position is that of the national ranking drawn up by the CRC which did not include 64 out of 107 Italian provinces, including 6 Tuscan provinces.

  • 2nd place: Grosseto – from 1.66 euros per pack of 4 rolls in 2021 to 3.15 in 2024 (+89.8%)
  • 8th place: Livorno – from 1.61 euros per pack of 4 rolls in 2021 to 2.98 in 2024 (+85.1%)
  • 11th place: Lucca – from 2.24 euros per pack of 4 rolls in 2021 to 2.90 in 2024 (+29.5%)
  • 38th place: Florence – from 1.61 euros per pack of 4 rolls in 2021 to 2.44 in 2024 (+51.6%)
  • 52nd place: Arezzo – from 1.68 euros per pack of 4 rolls in 2021 to 2.21 in 2024 (+31.5%)
  • 54th place: Pistoia – from 1.62 euros per pack of 4 rolls in 2021 to 2.14 in 2024 (+32.1%)
