Water distribution is gradually returning to normal in all areas of the city, with the usual supply times set to be restored tomorrow, Monday 6 May. This is what was communicated by the Municipality and AMAM through a joint note.
The Municipal Operations Center was closed as early as 11pm yesterday, Saturday 4 May. During this period, 176 requests were received and handled, all of which were satisfied. The emergency service to support the population is once again the responsibility of AMAM, which can be reached 24 hours a day on the active number 090.3687711. Please follow the instructions of the voice guide to select the required service and wait for the operator’s response.
Even today, four drinking water supply points are active 24 hours a day and are accessible to citizens at the following locations:
- Via Girolamo Savonarola, at the intersection with Via Onofrio Gabriele (near Piazza Castronovo)
- AMAM headquarters, in Viale Giostra – Pick up
- Viale Europa, near the Piedmont Hospital
- Via Principe Umberto, near the Torre Vittoria reservoir (at the intersection with Via Michele Amari)
With the conclusion of the operations for the fifth step of work to mitigate the vulnerabilities of the Fiumefreddo aqueduct and the consequent scheduled interruption of water in the city, together with the closure of the Municipal Operations Center (COC), the Municipality of Messina and AMAM SpA wish to thank citizenship for the collaboration shown, even during this phase of planned interruption. Special thanks are addressed to all those who tirelessly contributed to the success of the project intervention and assistance to the population, including technicians, operators, the Forestry Corps, the Municipal Police, the Army, the participating companies Messina Social City , Messinaservizi Bene Comune and ATM, the Arp Associations, the Diocesan Unit, Arp, Giva, and the municipalities of S. Piero Patti, Torregrotta, Roccafiorita and Roccavaldina, as well as all the municipalities in which the project interventions were carried out along the pipeline Fiumefreddo.
