Ideathon: this is how young people imagine the future of Modica

The future of Modica is being written with the active participation of its young citizens. The inaugural Ideathon event, organized by the Municipal Administration at the Liceo Galilei Campailla, marked an epochal moment in the approach to youth participation and technological innovation in the city. The ambitious goals of this project came to fruition in a day of intense creativity, vision and collaboration.

According to Antonio Drago, councilor for Digital Transition and Technological Innovation, the Ideathon represents a significant step towards the involvement of young minds in defining the future of Modica. In a period of accelerated change, innovation becomes crucial to address emerging challenges. The hard work carried out in collaboration with associations such as Sprintaly, Modiverso and GBT Training made this event possible, which saw the enthusiastic participation of the students of the scientific high school.

During the event, students presented and discussed ideas on how to make Modica a point of reference in innovation and sustainability. From optimizing public services to promoting eco-sustainable practices, the proposals demonstrated extraordinary creativity and a deep understanding of community needs. This was not only a moment of imagination, but also of concreteness: every idea, even the most audacious, has the potential to transform Modica, if supported and implemented with confidence.

The event also underlined the Municipal Administration’s commitment to promoting innovation and digital inclusion, offering young people the opportunity to be true protagonists of the city of the future.

Chiara Facello, councilor for Educational Policies, highlighted the central role of the school as an educational agency and democratic safeguard. Ideathon gave voice to the new generations, making them participants in the decision-making process and encouraging them to actively contribute to the development of their city.

Samuele Cannizzaro, councilor for Youth Policies, underlined the importance of Ideathon in giving visibility to the creative minds of Modica and in translating their ideas into concrete and achievable projects. The words spoken by Mayor Maria Monisteri during the awards ceremony confirmed the value and effectiveness of this initiative in shaping the future of the city.
