The survival match at the Domus Arena between Cagliari and Lecce ended at 1-1, for the Sunday lunch match of the 35th matchday of Serie A. The draw allows Gotti’s Salento team to rise to 37 points in 13th position and get closer to safety, while Ranieri’s Sardinians move to 33 points just behind the Giallorossi in 12th place, awaiting the other matches of the day.
Very intense first half with the Sardinians scoring in the 18th minute with Deiola with a shot deflected from distance, but the VAR cancels it for a touch of the hand. The advantage of Ranieri’s team, however, was only postponed and came in the 26th minute with Mina. However, the rossoblu remain with ten men due to Gaetano’s expulsion at the end of the first half after reviewing the action at the VAR.
Lecce with the extra man pressed and came close to scoring on several occasions and equalized in the 84th minute with Krstovic. In the final, Lecce also came close to overtaking by hitting the woodwork twice with Baschirotto and Sansone, as well as two shots from Blin and Gendrey saved by Meret.
