The Consortium for the Protection and Promotion of Cuneo DOP Crudo was the leader, as part of “SBAM – Start moving!”, the event dedicated to sport, well-being and nutrition, of the promotion project which in the last weekend saw as protagonists, in the living room of Piazza San Carlo in Turin, the PDO and PGI products of Piedmont: Crudo di Cuneo PDO, Salame Piemonte PGI, Murazzano PDO, Robiola di Roccaverano PDO, Ossolano PDO and Mela Rossa Cuneo PGI. With guided tastings for the many participants, the Consortium achieved one of the objectives of the event, namely the promotion of healthy eating and attention to one’s well-being, continuing on its path of valorising its PDO in the Savoy province.

“Participation in the SBAM event allowed us to present and let a consumer attentive to health and nutrition taste a package of DOP and IGP products from the Piedmontese territory – explained Chiara Astesana, president of the Consortium for the Protection and Promotion of Cuneo Raw Meat –. Great interest was shown by the participants in the tastings who asked numerous questions to the biologist and nutritionist Mara Antonaccio and to her colleagues Daniela Olivero and Lara Di Gennaro, especially regarding the nutritional aspects of the products offered for tasting, evidence that the initiative captured in sign, being able to represent a format to be repeated in the future. We continue our promotional work to raise awareness of the region’s DOP and IGP products in the capital city of Piedmont”.

The tasting format involved the formation of tasting groups of 15-18 people and the presentation of the products being tasted by a group of biologists, led by Dr. Mara Antonaccio; followed by a dish consisting of Cuneo PDO raw ham, Salame Piemonte PGI and one of the PDO cheeses (in rotation) combined with a glass of Cuneo PGI Red Apple juice. An uninterrupted service that allowed the products to be presented to over 2 thousand people over the course of two days.

“SBAM – Start moving!” is a free event dedicated to wellbeing and physical activity inspired by four pillars: sport, wellbeing, nutrition and movement which was held in Turin from 16 to 19 May. The initiative, promoted by OPES Aps, included a first phase dedicated to schools in Piazza d’Armi from 16 to 17 May and a final phase, dedicated to families in Piazza San Carlo from 18 to 19 May with performances and yoga school, pilates, dance, basketball and football. An area dedicated to food was set up in Piazza San Carlo, where many visitors had the opportunity to learn about and taste the DOP and IGP products of Piedmont.

The event is part of the project of communication actions of the Crudo di Cuneo DOP denomination co-financed by the Piedmont Region, EAFRD Funds – PSR 2014-2020 – Europe invests for rural areas.
