Marsala Volley returns defeated (3-1) by Castellana Grotte

It was another defeat, the Apulian away match against Zero5 Castellana Grotte, for the girls of GesanCom Marsala Volley on the twenty-fifth day of the B1 women’s volleyball championship in group E. A 3-1 thanks to partials 10/25, 25/ 23, 25/23 and 25/22, which demonstrates the terrible moment of the Lilibetan roster directed by Coach Campisi who expected from this match motivations that would lead to a relaunch in play and concentration.

In the first set, an absolutely devastating Marsala Volley annihilates the hosts 10/25 thanks to a positive team game in all its phases and with a truly impeccable block/defense correlation which finally showed a relaunch in the Lilibetana game making imagine a different ending to the challenge. But as if by magic in the following three sets, Coach Ciliberti’s hosts will be the ones who, by putting their foot on the accelerator, will not allow the Marsala team to be able to replicate the game of the first set, condemning them to a further away defeat. To be honest, reading the post-match Scout one gets the impression that he is describing a different match: GesanCom Marsala Volley produced more blocks, more attacks, more positive receptions, more serving points than their opponents. The difference, given the match, is always the same as the last matches: in the decisive moments they were unable to put the ball on the ground, two unfinished actions in their favor for each set were enough to lose them 25/23, 25/23 and 25/22.

Another test played with the lights off which, given the first phase of the tournament, does not do justice to a roster that should have at least achieved the objective of the play offs and which instead continues to wonder how it could have done so wrong. Now all that remains is the last day of the regular season, at home against Hub Ambiente Teams Catania, the seasonal farewell from the Marsala public in the knowledge that the team for next season will be created from this group of athletes.
