A kind of shell game, this is how Calabria Verde’s modus operandi appears, despite having shared a series of positive convergences for forestation and its workers, with the regional representatives of the confederal trade union

This is precisely the impact that it had among the forestry workers of the province of Cosenza after the times and methods had been agreed on a series of open questions starting from the long-awaited and discussed retraining of a large portion of workers who from years they carry out tasks and functions well above the current levels of classification; specifically we are talking about all the operators employed with different functions in the prevention and fight against forest fires, those who carry out guardianship functions, workers who use chainsaws and brush cutters and many other figures used on forestry construction sites.

This is a workforce which in the province of Cosenza records, in addition to a particularly significant number of employees, also a lower average age which still allows AIB campaigns to be planned with a certain efficiency.

All this inevitably fuels legitimate expectations which, as in this case, are disappointed.

We all expected the realization of what was agreed regarding the requalification numbers and its implementation methods, based on investigations and checks by the company.

Instead we found ourselves with a partial and divisive intervention which affected around 60 workers, creating tensions on the construction sites of the province, among the workers themselves and a lot of disappointment among those who, in a few months from now, will have to, with a sense of responsibility, respond to the called for the start of a service, that of the AIB, which received much attention from Councilor Gallo and Governor Occhiuto.

Furthermore, the abusive impositions on the workers to recover extraordinary work activities with compensatory hours continue on the part of the construction site managers, despite the repeated and justified opposition expressed by the trade unions, since it is not in line with what is established by the national collective bargaining agreement for the sector; not to mention unrecognized overtime hours in 2020 even though regularly recorded and always in the process of being approved but not yet paid.

And lastly, the contractual institution of the mileage allowance is now prey to the most total corporate schizophrenia compared to what was signed for the months from January to March 2024.

We record all this daily in meetings and on work sites: anger, disappointment and discouragement and, in some cases, difficulties for many workers who, despite having a fifth of their salary withheld, is not transferred from the company to the institutes of consumer credit, creating many problems.

This and other things, we believe, require reflection on the part of politicians, are they carelessness? Are they an accumulation of excessive work? Is it management incompetence? These are questions we ask ourselves, but above all we ask the management of Calabria Verde and the Hon. Councillor. Gianluca Gallo.
