The Adult Sector offers a moment of reflection on environmental sustainability, starting from the daily choices linked to purchases, fashion and the production systems of the clothing we wear. Will be held Saturday 25 May 2024 The conference The unsustainable fast fashion. Caring for Creation starts with your closetat the Auditorium of the Immaculate Heart of Mary parish in Molfettafrom 5.30pm to 8pm.

Starting from the Final Document of the XVIII diocesan Assembly of Catholic Action, held at the end of February, and to continue to raise awareness among members and communities on important issues, such as environmental sustainability, the conference will be an opportunity to reiterate how daily gestures, such as purchasing clothing trendy excessively and inexplicably convenient, impact irreversibly on the environment.

A fast fad, a short-term fad identified as fast fashion, a production system that dazzles with its practicality and economy. Clothes purchased to last a season and then end up in a landfill or in the South of the world. With low quality production, at negligible prices, the manufacturing industry fast fashion generates enormous amounts of waste and pollution.

Speakers: Don Gianni Fiorentinounitary diocesan assistant and Ac e Adult Sector Giuseppe Quitrapresident of Legambiente Corato, journalist and member of the culture and social communications office of the Archdiocese of Trani.

Since we are all responsible for the care of our common home, we cannot avoid acting in a conscious manner and to do so we must know what is happening around us, to «Convert our approaches, orienting every personal and community action towards an integral ecology that does not boils down to the observance of green practices. We know, in fact, that everything that we are and that surrounds us is connected. It is necessary to raise awareness of the sustainability of one’s daily choices in social, economic and political practice, relaunching attention to new lifestyles by adapting them to the times, contexts and various age groups”, as stated in the Final Document of the XVIII Diocesan Assembly – Section 2.
