OLBIA. The Environment Councilor intervenes regarding the letter from a businesswoman published by Olbianova on the problem of the presence of cockroaches in the historic center Antonella Sciola who says she is “surprised by the operator’s expression”.

According to Sciola, in fact, “The municipal administration is very attentive to the issue so much so that it intervenes on public roads and in coordination with the ASPO, which is responsible for opening the manholes to allow passage to the Multiss agency for disinfestation operations . These operations take place regularly from May to September and are implemented with the most advanced technologies to protect the environment and pets, such as dogs and cats, which must be protected from the substances used near the manholes. Last year six were carried out and this year two have already been carried out. Furthermore, this type of activity is always communicated to the associations, including Confcommercio and others affiliated with it, such as that of the restaurateurs of the historic center of Olbia. Whenever disinfestation is necessary – says the councilor – it is my responsibility to inform the representatives and leaders of the associations, asking them to facilitate ASPO’s activity in public lands by clearing the areas of chairs and tables”.

Sciola adds that “for these reasons, that letter surprises us a bit. Perhaps, as if to say, given that in this case the operator was not aware of it, it is evidently my concern to have the opportunity through Olbianova to give this kind of information. I would like to point out that the focus on disinfestation is not only on the historic center but on the different areas in which it is necessary, both on the basis of the program that the administration gives annually but also on the needs of users and citizens”.

In this regard, concludes the councilor “it has often happened that many voluntary associations or other users have informed us of areas, so to speak, particularly subject to nesting or perhaps the presence of rodents on public roads. I would like to underline that the administration’s intervention is limited only and exclusively to public roads and certainly not to private properties. In those cases, when we were contacted, we acted promptly. Therefore, demonstrating the fact that, beyond the planned activities, there are also extraordinary interventions that are carried out to support and support those who ask us”.
