Femicide Aosta, Auriane’s father: ‘His crime must not be in vain’

“Why”, writes the father of the girl killed last April 5 in a letter to the media, “was her tormentor able to approach her despite the ban on approaching her?”. His partner, Sohaib Teima, 21 years old, from Fermo, “gravely suspected” of the crime, was sentenced yesterday to six months for mistreatment towards him

“This further feminicide is not in vain”: this is the hope entrusted to a letter to the media by Ludwig Laisne, father of Auriane Nathalie Laisne, the twenty-two year old from Lyon found dead on April 5th in a small ruined church in La Salle, Aosta. Her partner, Sohaib Teima, 21 years old, from Fermo, is “gravely suspected” of the crime. “Why”, writes the girl’s father, “was her tormentor able to approach her despite the ban on approaching her? Why didn’t he have to wear the electronic bracelet? Because when provisional detention was requested in February, the Lyon prosecutor did not did he arrange it immediately, thus allowing the drama to occur?”, he wonders. Meanwhile, yesterday the French court in Grenoble sentenced Sohaib Teima to six months in prison for mistreatment of her partner. The domestic violence and threats charge was for a 2022-2024 term.

“Women considered to belong to men”

“I hope – continues the victim’s father – that all these questions can obtain answers, but even more that they are a source of changes within the judicial and police system, which, like national education, do not have the means to carry out the own work adequately. I hope that at the highest level of the Republic we do not limit ourselves to words, but that we move on to actions that lead to real changes”. “I am obliged – adds Ludwig Laisne – to be here, despite all the suffering, to pass on a message of peace and respect for others. National education must be better supported so that some families do not build the future of young people on violence which can be inflicted on women, unfortunately too often considered inferior to men, as belonging to them, to the point of making some believe they have the right of life or death over them”.
